About Rachel

Rachel Erin is a Pacific Northwest multimedia artist based in Seattle, Washington. Following her prior career as an art director in Los Angeles, Rachel uses ink, acrylic, and assemblage to elaborate on the politics of looking.
Â
Through grotesque figurations of the female form, Rachel invites us into a deeper analysis of self-perception, asking us to critically examine how we participate in voyeurism towards others and ourselves. Drawing from her conservative Christian upbringing, Rachel's work touches on themes of queerness through the deconstruction of sexuality, faith, and shame, attempting a middle ground between opposing political worlds.
